Not So Long Ago

 By John Boda

Not so long ago, not so long ago, things were a whole lot different not so long ago.

An application was for employment, a program was a TV show, a curser used profanity, a keyboard was a piano.

I-Tunes was songs for the blind, MySpace was parking for free, a notebook used to be spiral bound and an apple came from a tree!

Compress was something you did to garbage not something you did to a file…….. and if you unzipped in public you'd be in jail for a while.

( chorus )

Log on was adding wood to a fire, hard drive a long trip on the road,

A mouse pad was where a mouse lived; a backup was in your commode.

Cut you did with a pocket knife, paste you did with glue, the web was a little spiders home and a virus was the flue.

File is what you did to your nails, yahoo is what you yelled on a horse.......a disc is what you had in your back and a server was a waiter of course.

( chorus )

Google was what a baby did, E-Bay was speaking pig Latin, ram was a male sheep, a scroll bar a joint in Manhattan.

Windows are what you had on a house, software was a cotton shirt, a chat room was down in the health club and a gig-a-byte lived in the dirt.

( chorus)

I guess I'll have to stick to my pad and paper and the memory in my head…..Though no one's yet died in a computer crash, when it happens they'll wish they were dead!

(Alternate Lyric)

Memory is what you lost with age,

a CD was a bank account and if you had a couple inch floppy you hoped nobody found out!
